Scanner not recognized

I have a xerox printer & visioneer scanner. Printer is
plugged into the scanner and scanner is plugged into the
pc via LPT port. Printer works fine but scanner is not
recognized. I have installed software for scanner over
and over again and still icon states that scanner not
found. I have been to setup (bios) and changed port
settings from standard to flexible only to get same
results. No image device found in device manager
either...no conflics...and printer is not listed under
ports listed epc port or lpt1. I have even reinstalled
windows XP (Home) again and nothing I try works. Advice?

If the scanner is also USB, try that. It will be much faster, and eliminate
conflicts with the printer.

Piggybacking scanner and printer is not supported in XP. Change one of the
devices to a USB port (if possible).
