Had a problem with parents HP desktop in that Quattro Pro
10 would give the CARM error when accessing the
spreadsheet. Found out through Corel that you can press
the shift key at start of the program and you can change
the config. setup. That worked fine.
PC has AOL for the ISP and it had 3 versions: 7,8 and 9.
Dad liked the hotkey button on the Keyboard but it always
went to ver. 8. I went into add/remove and deleted ver. 7
and 9.
Now the PC will not boot, even in the safe mode. It runs
XP and in deperation tried to do a system recovery but
that also stalled. I figured that we could use the WinXP
boot that came with the PC but we could not find it.
I have a HP laptop that runs XP, can I make a boot disk
from it and use it on his PC and next, if I can get
windows up, I should be able to do a system restore to a
previous day?
Thanks,
Chip

HP Pavilion computers have a hidden partition which contains the files necessary
to restore your PC to its original factory condition. Please read and follow these
instructions carefully:

HP Pavilion Desktop PCs - Performing a Full System Recovery in Microsoft Windows XP
http://h20015.www2.hp.com/hub_search/document.jhtml?lc=en&docName=bph07145

Note: HP offers both a "destructive" and "non-destructive" method....use the
"non-destructive" method.

Note: You must return your HP computer to the exact same hardware configuration
as it was originally. Disconnect all peripheral hardware devices except for the monitor,
keyboard and mouse.

I did try the links, but the system recovery process it
details has already been tried and it did follow through.
If I can just get back into Windows, I think I can do a
system restore but I cannot get Windows up.

When I boot the PC and press the F10 key I do get to the
system recovery screen, but it will not run.
Can I create a recovery disk from my laptop to run on
their PC?

No, your laptop Recovery CD will not work with a different
model HP computer.

not start in SafeMode how can I get in?

Using a different computer running Windows XP, create a Boot Disk, then visit
