Reset your modem configurations. go>start\control
panel\double click system\then click the hardware tab and
now the device manager button and then right click your
modem and then click uninstall. Now close out of all these
windows and restart your machine. This will clean out the
old setup and give you a new one. Good luck.

Hi He had already done all that but no joy. He has been through all that
advice from his so called help line.

The only thing he had not done was to restore the computer to the factory
defaults which I did but it did not solve the problem.

I think therehas to be a bit more to it than resetting the modem, after all
a total reinstall did not fix it.

I suspect a hardware fault as the computer is only 2 weeks old.
