Ok, I am making my way slowly on installing XP. I have
found advice for all my other problems, but now I get an
error that my drive C: is corrup and XP can not continue
with the instal. I have ME running now, but would like to
get XP installed. I have run an up to date virus chek and
ran scan disk. It shows some bad clusters on the drive.
I just put in a new maxtor drive, but the errors came from
a bad crash my daughter caused!
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jason

Replace the hard drive with a known good one!

Also give you daughter something, I think the "'Five
across the eyes' approach would be good. It works like
this, and is a very basic maneuver and usually enough to
cover most situations when your child is out of line.
Simply put four fingers tightly together and either leave
the thumb off to the side or fold it behind the other
four fingers. Then smack your kid across the face with
the back of your hand. Now this is the tricky part: make
sure to snap your wrist just before contact otherwise you
won't get a stinging effect. Very important because you
don't want to risk letting your kid think you're a
pussy."

Go to the Maxtor website and download Powermax. Follow the instructions for
running this program from a floppy. If the drive is shot it will give you
instructions on what to do.

I have just had the same with a 40gig Maxtor 7200. Just take it back to your
vendor with reciept act. and get them to change it. Mine was changed with
out any quibbles. And if this one goes the same way, they will allow me to
change it for another make.
