EST? Got me. Don't know. But a BAK file can be many things. In most cases,
it's a backup file. It's basically a "picture" of whatever data it's
referring to. So if you lose your data, this is the file you'd back up from.
For example, a MS SQL Server database, when backed up, creates a .BAK file.
Many programs use this extension, and they're not interchangeable. You can't
open up a SQL Server .BAK file with another program. I think the only way
you'd know what program is using it is by its location. It would be
blatantly obvious if the file was located at C:\MSSQL\Backup that this was a
backup of a database. Outside of it's location, your guess is as good as
mine. For a fairly comprehensive list (they probably even have .EST), go to
www.filext.com. Good luck.
