I've recently reloaded xp and now find the startup to be
a two stage affair. It starts, presents the desktop with
associated icons and while it appears to be finished, a
right mouse click on "My Computer" and then
selecting "Properties" does not immediately display
the "System Properties" window.
If left to do it's thing the window appears some minutes
later?
Probably a related symptom is the H'disk LED shows
activity at startup then after a pause of some minutes it
displays more activity and only then the System
Properties window is visible.
There is no activity shown in the task manager during
this pause cycle??? Any clues?

Hi Lee,

Start/run msconfig, go to the services tab and disable Windows Image =
Acquisition, see if it still happens when you reboot.=20
