Microsoft products:

Windows 5 Support Center

Supporting Windows Desktop Systems:
Windows 2000 & XP and Leading Applications Software

newsgroup answers. (http://WinSupportCenter.com/ may be substituted for

Smells like badly cooked SPAM to me; think you could have posted more =
links to get web site hits?

Rick \Nutcase\ Rogers
December 5th 03, 01:19 AM
In other circumstances, that assumption might be correct. In this one, =
it is not. Jim has a truely free site. There are no ads, no banners, and =
no pop-ups. He does not care how many hits he gets, as he is not trying =
to sell space to advertisers. For that matter, I know personally that he =
has sworn never to have advertising on his site. He pays for =
*everything* out of his own pocket (though he does accept donations). =
Jim posts his FAQ on a semi-regular basis at the request of a number of =
people, as his site is one of the most commonly used and perhaps one of =
(if not *the*) best references you will find on the Microsoft =
newsservers.

It annoys me when your 1st posting regarding Jim's very helpful advice =
was to regard it as 'spam'. Before you spout of next time you may like =

BTW - 'yes' without any qualification doesn't help anyone.

Keep your the MS link, don't care about that. And, what is wrong with a =
"yes" answer, when the question(s) are easily discernible as being =
required with a "yes" or "no" answer?=20

Why yes, I could have <g>. Thanks for reposting them. :)

Silly, I've written messages just like yours above on a few occassions over
the years, so I understand the impulse. (Usually after I've seen such posts
for a long time, and especially if they aren't properly cross-posted for
easy one-short removal -- and if they really make my pop-up filters sing for
their supper!)

BTW, sometime around, say, tomorrow (6/6/03) the site is likely to get its
50 millionth page view since I took it off of its initial free hosting and
went to commercial hosting in Dcember 2001. I recently substantially
restructured the site to differentiate the Windows ver. 5 content from the
Windows ver. 4 content, but joined by a common search engine and support
forum. One reason for posting these links at the present time is that most
of the links in circulation for the site are now incorrect, though I have
server-side redirects in place on most things (these will stay in place for
at least six months).

Rick and Will: Thanks very much.

Pair.com is arguably *the* best high grade web host that can be found. Does
it help any, Mike, if I point out that the site is specifically aimed (as
the caption says) at "supporting Microsoft desktop systems," and not server
systems? <g>

But finish up Jim...it's that way, because no M$ server could handle it well.
