WinXP Blues
December 8th 03, 06:24 AM
Hi,
Try this sequence out:
With computer off, go inside box and disconnect all
hardware connections (both data and power) except for the
60G HD. Turn on computer, you should have the following
show up:
C:\ 40G HD with WinXP and Primary Master
D:\ 20G HD for data storage
If this is the case, go into System and make sure that
all DVD/CDRW devices are uninstalled. Then shut off the
computer and connect the 160G HD to the Primary Slave, make
sure the jumper is set for Slave (not cable select). Turn
on the computer and go to Disk Management (right click on
My Computer). Format the 160G HD and it should show up as
the next letter in the alphabet, which would be E:\.
If this is so, then shut off the computer and connect your
DVD/CDRW, etc to the Secondary Master. If more than one
devices, connect them to Secondary Master & Slave. Turn on
computer and you should have these devices detected and
assigned the next logical letters of the alphabet. Good
luck and post back your results.
