Having bought the wheel and set it up, and now see in the
readme text that the wheel only works on w98. Can this be
right and is there no fix?

If it is not working correctly then do the following:

1. Connect the device to the gameport
2. Start -> Run -> Control Panel
3. Switch to "Classic View".
4. Run the Gaming Options control
5. In Gaming Options Click the "Add..." button.
6. From the list choose "Microsoft SideWinder (Auto Detect)"
7. This should install your device.

You won't need the install disk. It was only for Windows 9x systems.

Hi, however if you want to use the profiles to assign specific actions you
will need to use the CD. Some games will allow you to assign buttons within
them, however some won't, i.e GP4 Therefore you will need to run the setup
program on the CD ignoring the incompatibility statement.
