When you say you "deselected" it, do you mean that you
disabled it in it's program menu? If so, that won't stop
it from loading at startup. To stop it from loading go to
Start/Run and type msconfig. Then select the "Startup"
tab. On my computer it's listed as "DirectCD". If you
uncheck it there, it should stop loading at startup.
