View Full Version : Keyboard disabled in XP

Thanks to the ideas so far, but was OK on all things
suggested. Problem again, need help ! When I log on
to "my" part of XP everything works fine. As soon as I
switch to "her" side the light on the keyboard goes out
and can't type anything anywhere (email, excel, word etc)
everything else seems OK, can retrieve files, receive and
read email etc. She is not a surfer or doesn't tinker
with the system in any way. Email is all she does, so I
figure she probably hit a key or combo of keys by
accident that caused it. Whatever it was I can't figure
out how to fix it. I even tried a system restore to
before the problem and that didn't fix it either. Any
ideas would be appreciated. Gary

Could you post replies to the thread that already exists, not start another
please?

Thanks

Have you tried going to Control Panel-System-Keyboard ,highlight the
keyboard, right click, select properties, and click on the "troubleshoot"
button?

In that case, go to Control Panel-System-Hardware-Device Manager (in her
logon) and see if the USB keyboard has been disabled.

Check the USB status when on 'her' side.
