View Full Version : Windows Explorer Crashes when renaming files

My digital camera names images with sequential numbers. After unloading my
camera I open Windows Explorer and start renaming the files to more
meaningful names. I can usually rename anywhere from 10 to 100 files before
I get a blue screen of death. The windows error says that I have a Device
Driver problem ... which I keep sending to Microsoft. After the crash I
reboot and start renaming files again (with very little else running) and
the system will eventually crash again in the same manner.
I have a NVIDIA GeFore4 mx 440 with the latest drivers from Nvidia. I just
updated the drivers to 4.4.0.3 hoping that would solve the problem. It did
not solve it. In fact the problem seems a little worse. I am running XP
5.1.2600 and regularly keep up to date with Windows Update.
I would appreciate any suggestions!
Best,
Jon

Try reinstalling the original driver. Sometimes these "updated" drivers
"don't work and play well with others".

The problem was occuring with the original driver. It continues to occur
with the new driver.
