is it true that if i have more than 3 hardware upgrades
with windows xp home it will stop working? because i am
on my 3rd now and planning another very soon

No, it's not true. The worst that can happen is that you will need to do a
Repair Installation of WindowsXP and then reactivate it. Since installing
my XP Pro, I've changed almost everything.... if you really need the list:

Added IEEE1394 card
Added USB 2.0 card
Removed DVD ROM drive and added 2nd hard drive
Changed motherboard and CPU
Added third hard drive.....
(then removed 2nd hard drive to another PC changed 3rd hard drive to be 2nd
hard drive and added yet another hard drive
Added Linksys NIC as the onboard NIC failed
Changed keyboard

Probably more, but right now I can't think of them!

I reinstalled at the motherboard/CPU change.

Other than that, it's been fine.

Hi, or you could try this......
Make a copy of the system
license file (wpa.dbl) which is in the \winnt\system32 folder, before
you run the repair. After the repair finishes, copy wpa.dbl back to
the system32 directory and you won't need to reactivate. Be aware that
this process works only with retail copies of XP.
