Unable to run Windows Update

When I try to access the Windows Update site, I get a
screen saying "You must run a Microsoft Windows operating
system in order to use Windows Update". I am running XP-
Home which came with my e-Machines and have never had a
problem with Windows Update until tonight. Can anyone
help?

Hi Ben,

Did you install a third party firewall? Norton's? If so, try disabling =
it, as this error can occur when both the native firewall and a third =
party are running. If it was Norton's security program, there is an =
additional fix described here:
