Lately I've been getting a
c:\windows\sys32/shdoclc.dnserror message (not sure of
the backslashes/forward slashes) when trying to get on to
the Internet. I've uninstalled just about everything and
have used System Restore to avoid this, but no luck.
What is this error and how do I get rid of it? I've
reinstalled XP Home on top of itself in an attempt to
restore this file, but no good. Verizon doesn't like to
help with this connectivity problem; they claim that the
Windows error puts it in Microsoft's court. Thank you.

go start run type sfc /scannow and you should put you xp disk in and close
the install dialog thing then hit enter after putting your xp disk in and
typing that command and it will start windows FILE protection. It works with
xp pro not sure with home but might or you could look for the file on the
internet and copy and paste.

Hope it helps.
