I am running Windows XP... connect directly to an HP
Business Inkjet 2200 printer also connected to 2 other
printers via network.. this has been work fine for a
year. however now I can't print to anything, when trying
to print I get the following error.
Before you can perform printer related task such as page
setup or printing a document, you net to install a
printer, do you want to install now?...
if I answer yes to re-setup a print it responses
(operation could not be completed.)
if I try to view the properties of a printer that is
setup up it responses
( printer properties cannot be displayed. The printer
Spooler services is not running..
I can delete, add, or anything when it comes to printers
and there drivers.... Any ideas?????

Will,
Go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools (you'll have to be logged into an
Administrator level account), choose Component Services, Services, open
Print Spooler Properties (double click on it). Make sure it is set
"Automatic" under Startup type and then choose "Start" below in Service
status.
You should be good to go now.

Len,
Thanks, that starts the print spooler and and I also
have it set to >"Automatic". I can print one doc to one
printer then it go's back to the orignal problem. Do you
think the driver is bad or something?

Will,
Since it is automatically resetting itself, I don't know what else to tell
you! I am not a printer wizard, so I'll refer you to another ng
microsoft.public.windowsxp.print_fax
and suggest that you ask those folks (who have a lot more expertise in
printer related problems), telling them what you did and what you found.
Sorry that I can't provide any further help in T/S this problem for you.
