floppy drive/cdrom drive

I have just upgrade two computers form WIndows ME to
Windows XP pro. On one (the laptop) which has an externl
floppy drive, I can see the floppy drive. On the other (
a Dell desktop) I can't. Trying to upgrade the drivers
from the device manage doesn't work. I added aq USB
floppy drive to the system and it won't recognize or
install drivers for that either. I need help too!
