It's not as bad as that; you don't need 'Hell'!

If you want to put the files in one of your folders in alphabetical order,
go into the folder, right click on a blank area > arrange items by > name.

If, instead arranging items by name, you use type, it will group all the WP
files together in alpha order, all the excel files together in alpha order
etc.

When you say "documents in wordperfect 10," are you asking about
the dialog box you get when you click File | Open?

That dialog box, and most other such file dialog boxes, can be
sorted into any order you want. Look at the line with the
headings for the various fields. Click on any heading to sort by
that field; click it a second time to reverse the order of the
sort (from descending to ascending, or vice-versa).

So in your case, click on the heading for the "Name" field.
