How can I make it so that ONLY the programs I wish to
begin upon start-up begin. The rest start only when I
click on them. (for instance Messenger, Music Match,
etc.)

Help

For MSN Messenger Tools>Options>General Tab and unselect "Run when I start
Windows" should do it. Don't know about Music Match, but I'd bet that there is
a similar paramater there somewhere. If not there are many "Startup Managers"
available free or shareware. If you Google for it, I'm sure you'll find one you
like.

Always check the programs options / preferences for a option to have it not
start at windows startup.
If the program has no option:
start, run, type in: msconfig, hit enter. Startup tab, uncheck what you
don't want to start.
