View Full Version : Re-Botting from CD?

May 4th 04, 06:35 AM
I was planning on rebooting window's. My questions are what and how should this boot be performed? I have XP Home and have booted before in probably the same way, but different circumstances are in order. I Think I want to boot from my reinstallation CD (T
he best way) and do a clean installation that way? Do I put the CD in and wait for the computer to restart and let the CD boot up itself. Then let it tell me what to remove and do a quick repair which is what I want to do being I have the re-installation C
D, or Boot without the CD, remove Windows and then perform the reinstallation? Thanks. Rob

1. Open your BIOS and set your "CD Drive as the first bootable device".

2. Insert your Windows XP CD in the CD Drive and reboot your computer.
3. You'll see a message to boot to the CD....follow the instructions.

If a "Repair Install" cannot be performed:

Boot with the CD, then watch the screen, and when it tells you to press any
button to boot from the CD, do so.

If you just want to repair the Windows operating system, go through the
install process, bypassing the Restore option, go all the way until you pass
the EULA agreement, and then choose Repair.
