windows XP slow on start up

Hi,
After signing into windows I would usually experience
the "entrance song", and then view my wallpaper. But
now, after signing into windows, I am immediately viewing
my wallpaper and get no song. This song comes on about a
minute after I have logged onto windows. I can no longer
immediately jump into any of my desktop icons until after
the "entrance song" has played.
To me this is a) new and b) seems to be causing a undue
delay indicating something is wrong. I have ran Norton
anti-virus and have visited Microsft to find out if I am
missing any upgrades. All is good.
Can you please tell me how I can fix this so that
everything is running as it was?

I don't know what's running at start-up. How do I check?
