View Full Version : windows cannot read the disc in CD-Rom drive

My computer is a Dell and I have been working with Dell
to identify the problem. After the computer has started
if I insert a CD in the drive the message I get:Windows
caanot read this disc. If I start the computer with CD
already in the drive then windows can read the disc. Dell
has tried all avenues in their power to fix the problem
but have been unable to. Now I am asking Microsoft the
question. What is the Fix? Thanks

This is not Microsoft. This is a public newsgroup providing peer-to-peer
support for the XP operating system. If you want to contact Microsoft
tech support, you should be aware that they will tell you to get
support from your OEM - Dell. Since you didn't tell us what "all
avenues in their power to fix.." actually means, there's no way of
getting a specific answer. Has Dell replaced the cd drive?
