why is my computor so slow,it has been that way since
new.even off line,it takes forever to load a
program.HELP,BEFORE I THOW IT OUT THE WINDOW!!!!

I've not found any problems with his safe set of services settings and they
speed things up quite a bit. About 3/4ths of the crap running on a XP
machine right out of the box can be turned off.

Do a full virus scan online (trendmicro.com or McAfee.com) and then do a
full scan from a bootable floppy disk to catch any virus that hides itself
by the time the hard drive and windows boot.

Also, this could indicate a peripheral device without the correct driver.
Look through your Hardware, Device Manager page to see if it shows any
conflicts. Hit Windows Key and Pause/Break key simultaneously to get there,
then the Hardware tab, then the Device Manager button.
