This problem has plagued me for over a year but it seems to be getting
worse. I am running Windows XP Pro and have a problem with the
keyboard not working sometimes when Windows starts. When this happens
and I check the device manager, it shows a yellow exclamation point
next to the keyboard. Rebooting usually fixes the problem but I
sometimes have to reboot more than once to get it to work.

Before you assume it's the keyboard, I have tried multiple keyboards
and the problem even continued after I built a new system with a new
motherboard and processor. I can safely rule out the keyboard and
port at that point. I wiped the hard drive a while ago and did a
fresh install of Windows XP and the problem followed me past that.

I am using a PS/2 keyboard and a USB mouse (MS Intellimouse). Also
plugged into the back are a printer (into the parallel port) and a MS
Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro (into the game port on the sound card).
I feel that it has to be a hardware conflict of some kind but have no
idea of where to start.

The processor is an Athlon XP 2000.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

And that would be a keyboard problem, not a problam. Can't blame that
on the keyboard, unfortunately. Just sloppy proof reading.
