May 4th 04, 10:57 PM
Hi. Will their be upgrade and full retail box versions
of this in stores and the online stores by September? I
guess if they do SP2 will be the same price as the
previous XP Home Edition? Thanks.

No one knows when it will be in stores let alone available in final form for
download. From what ms said today I'll bet it's after september for stores
versions.
As far as I know, same price.

Since nobody knows when SP2 will be released, nobody knows when
XP versions will include it. Most estimates are that SP2 will be
available sometime this summer, but even if that turns out to be
correct, there's no way to know when copies of XP with it
included will hit the stores.

Yes. Microsoft doesn't changes prices for versions including
service packs.

SP1 took two or three months after its release before the copies of the
system in stores started to include it - old ones had to work their way
through the distribution chain. This time I have some hopes that the
SP2 will be made available, soon after it can be downloaded on a free
(or very cheap) CD. This to be distributed as widely as possible, but
certainly to be ordered from a web site in the same way that SP1 was
(and is) available there
