Every time I log onto Windows, I get the SAME message:
"Windows Messenger
[username] has added you to his/her contact list.
Do you want to:
Allow this person to see when you are online and contact you
Block this person from seeing when you are online and contacting you
Remember, you can make yourself appear offline temporarily to everyone at
any time."
I click on OK, but the next time I log onto Windows, I get the exact same
message for the same user. I tried:
1. clicking Cancel
2. clearing the "Add this person to my contact list" check box
2. deleting the user
but the next time I log on, the same message appears with another user.
I saw a post on March 16 ("Unwanted notice and messed-up contact list") who
had the exact same problem, but she (Peggy) hasn't received a solution yet.
I am running Windows XP Home with Messenger 4.7.2009.
Shane.

I have the same problem. I have read in other messages here (see duplicate contacts) about this, that installing the latest version of msn messenger seem to fix this(sort of). I did this and it seem to cut down the amount of times I get the message when
using windows messenger, but I still get them from time to time.
I notice that windows messenger seems to have problem shutting down alot when logging off, even with a new install. There is a problem somewhere, but it doesn't seem to be one that people know how to get working properly.
Maybe this will help you in the short term, until the problem can be addressed by someone with a proper solution.

Greetings Shane,
What Peggy was describing back in March is different actually (a different issue anyway). A
few people are experiencing this now due to some changes on the servers recently, it's being
worked on.
