when i run regedit the window will not stay open, It
seems to just disappear. any help on this

security check to find out if you have a virus

If you have one, there are some links to the most common ones that could cause
the problem you're having. Also is included a link to assist you should you need
to use the regedit.

You could be infected with one of these worms:

These viruses terminate Regedit.exe and taskmgr.exe
