Recently I bought 2 new CD Drives for my Windows XP
computer (an updated 98) and now I am having a lot of
trouble installing them.

I tried to use Hardware installer and I went through the
actions, and I noticed there was a yellow "!" next to the
new cd drives. I carried on and in the end I came to an
error report, stating:

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its
configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete
or damaged. (Code 19)"

This error report appears for both of the drives when I
try to install them.

-- Please can somebody help me with this problem, as I
have followed the instructions in the troubleshooter and
did not have any sucess.

"CD-ROM Drive or DVD-ROM Drive Missing After You Install Windows XP"

(There are other ways to get the dud Registry keys than upgrading from an
older version of Windows.)

The fix is to manually edit the Registry, or patch it with:
