Suspend and nic cards

I build an old 233 with 2 nic cards to act as a network
server so my comps didnt have to be on for my roommate to
access the net. Is there a way to suspend all actions,
hd's, cpu, etc while allowing the nics to function.
Suspend mode or such seems to be the most logical but i
want it to not shut down the two nic cards. The comp was
cheap so no biggie if i can't but anything that will
extend its life is worth looking into for me.
