My new Compaq Presario came with a 40GB Maxtor HD loaded
with Windows XP Home Edition and Office XP Sm. Bus. I am
trying to install a faster WD 80GB as the main boot (C:)
drive. I wish to reformat the Maxtor to a single
partition and use it as my backup (D:). Western Digital's
help has been super but the results have not. I have
formatted the new drive (with XP) succesfully NTFS, but
copying files with "Data Lifeguard" floppy provided with
the new HD stops copying at 85% and the file named
msumlt_c.ini. A second attempt stopped at the same file.
Enhancing my PC as described seems simple and good
planning. Surely this should be simple to do. Thanks
