I've just moved to Xp after 2000 and although most things
went pretty smooth, my Gravis Eliminator USB gamepad
isn't recognised.

Device Manager just shows "Unknown Device".

What have I missed?

Check with the manufacturer to see if it is support under Windows XP. And
if it is supported download the drivers from them.

Some more info as perhaps I was too brief.
The game pad is a "Gravis Eliminator Shock" USB device.

According to the manufacturer, it should be usable on Xp with at least
Dx8.0, natively.

Previously under W2k, I plugged it in and it was recognised immediately.
It was also usable through =>Dx8. Only requiring the Gravis software for
"extras" (key mappings and such).

With Xp, I just get a "Unknown Device" appear within the USB section of
the Device Manager. Many attempts at loading the Gravis software, removing
the USB devices and reloading them have proved fruitless. As it doesn't
seem to be recognised as a game controller, I can't load it within the
Game Controller settings.
