I am trying to install Windows XP as a first OS.
Everything proceeds as it should through the setup and
then windows boots and formats and copies files. Then
after the restart I get the following message :

"Windows could not start because of a computer disk
hardware configuration problem. Could not read from
selectedboot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware.

Please check the windows documentation about hardware
disk configuration and your hardware manuals for
addittional information."

My system configuartion is:

Intel Pentium 4 3GHz (800MHz) HT 512K cache
MSI motherboard S478 Intel 865PE ATX A L
4*Crucial Technology 512MB 184DIMM PC3200
Hercules ATI 128MB DDR Rad 9000 Pro
Adaptec ATA-RAID-1200A 2Channel PCIKIT
connected to: 2*Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 80GB
UDMA100
Samsung CD-RW 52r 52w 24rw Int IDE
Pioneer 16x DVD IDE
Thermaltake S478 SubZero4G Thermo Electric Fan
Thermaltake Silent 420W ATX PSU

I have tried both fixes (one for newer driver versions and
one about swapping the PCI channel the RAID card is in)
neither of which have worked, I always end up at the same
point. I have checked that the array is bootable and that
the BIOS looks for the array after the Floppy and before
the CD drive. Please can you help in any way?

It sounds like you're past this point, but did you press F6 at the
appropriate time and provide drivers for the RAID card? Also, did you set
the proper boot sequence in the system BIOS? There should be an option for
the Promise card by name, but you may need to set it to boot from SCSI.

Back to you.
