How do you turn off the welcome screen so when you turn
your computer it will call directly to the desktop
instead of the welcome screen or sign screen?

Autologin Windows XP:

1. Click Start | Run | and type "control userpasswords2"
2. click OK
3. On the Users tab, clear the "Users must enter a user name and password to
use this computer" check box.
4. A dialog will appear that asks you what user name and password should be
used to logon automatically, Choose the account (which the user wants to
automatically login) and type the password. Click "OK".

Download and install TweakUI:

Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP (TweakUI)
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

After installing, go to Start > Programs > PowerToys for Windows XP >
TweakUI. Expand "Logon", click on "Autologon" and place a check
next to "Log on automatically at system startup", then click "apply".
