View Full Version : PC & Printer Problems with Windows XP

I recently purchased a new Dell computer that was equipped
with Windows XP Home Edition. After installing my printer
software, an HP 2210 All-In-One, I discovered the printer
would not work properly. It prints OK but will not
download scanned documents or digital pictures as it was
designed to do. I did not have any previous problems with
it when it was connected to my older Dell computer that
ran Windows 98. After spending 2 weeks bouncing between
Dell Support and HP Support, both testing and retesting
their devices, they are now suspecting that there may be
a "glitch" in Windows XP. I've reinstalled the Windows
software that came with my system but still no luck. I
noticed that when I right-click on the START button and
click on PROPERTIES, there are only 2 tabs at the top of
the screen and HARDWARE is not one of them. However, when
I select CONTROL PANEL, then PRINTERS, the printer
software is visible and selected. Have you ever heard of
this kind of problem before? If so, what's the solution.
Thanks.

Are you using XP compatible drivers, and software for your printer, or the
same ones that you used for Win98? Check the HP web site for XP compatible
software, for your printer.

If there is a "glitch", I doubt it's with XP. Microsoft doesn't write
the drivers for hardwar; that's the job of the hardware manufacturer.
If the XP driver they provide doesn't work, then it's THEIR glitch,
not a MS one.
