View Full Version : problems with formatting and installing xp

Someone please help,

I have started to build systems for clients, My problems
comes with windows xp oem disks, When i put disk in cdrom,
it fires up starts to format ntfs and then when it comes
to 99% it says this disk cannot be formmatted, If i manage
to formatt at after many trys, we have problems with
installing xp , sometimes this file cannopt be found and
other time fatal exception.

Pplease help

The problem could be that you are using the wrong cable for the hard
drives or are overclocking the system. I have seen similar problems
with a friend who used a 40 pin IDE cable on a newer Maxtor drive.
Using the correct 80 pin cable fixed his problems.
You might also have to copy the CD to a formatted drive and install from
there. This will eliminate problems with the CD drive.
