View Full Version : Automatic shutdown does not work

I recently upgraded to windows XP SP1. Unfortunately,
when I slect power of, the computer does not
automatically shut off. I must physically turn the power
off myself. Please let me know what I need to change. I
was told my Bios, but that is all I know. ANy help in
telling me where these are and how to do tis would be
greatly appreciated

Your bios/system is too old, upgrade your system bios.

Most ACPI system will shutdown, but if you system is Standard PC you need to
update your bios, ask the manufacture for a newer ACPI bios if they have it,
after that you will need to do a new install of XP

To check what is system you have go to Start, Run, type devmgmt.msc, click
Computer
Is it ACPI or Standard PC?
