system sounds

I have no system sounds. have gone through all help
sugestions and seems like everything is there, no
conflicts, but no system sounds. Windows XP,rest of
computer was put together at computer show, new
motherboard,hard drive, and case, can you help please. I
know I will have to go to m/board manf. site but any and
all suggestions greatly apprieciated. Thank you for your
time.
