Did you try shutting down your computer, cycling the modem (power
off/power on), then restarting your computer?
DSL connections sometimes go into "sync-no serve," where they seem to
be connected to the ISP but your computer doesn't receive any data,
nor does the modem send any of the outgoing data packets. The modem
is synced with the comm software/hardware at the ISP end, but is not
serving your system at your end.
This used to happen to me a few times a week when I used DSL. I had
to do what I suggested in my first paragraph to restore the
connection; sometimes I had to do it a couple of times. It was a real
pain in the ass and I am so glad I've now moved to Cable.
