disk drives under XP

I upgraded my whole system and did a clean install of XP
on a new disk drive. Initially my old disk drive was
accessable through Explorer but has now disappeared
although it is recognised by BIOS and appears in Device
Manager. Would appreciate any suggestions.

Right click on My Computer and select Manage.

On the following screen, select Disk Management.

It should appear on the right hand side of the screen where you can
partition and format it if required.... and assign it a drive letter.
Explorer can't see a drive without a drive letter assigned.
