Windows Media Player

Windows media player keeps saying not responding. along
with that I get sound that comes through my speakers when
turning on the computer, but when using media player 9.0
it says not responding. Plus no sound comes through my
computer. I have deleted my sound program and then rebot
the computer but when I turn it back on, I go to use
media player and the sound comes on but then it no sound
and then window media player says not responding. Please
help.
