I have a BCM V.90 56K modem, which came with the Compaq computer I bought in 2001. I recently upgraded my system to Windows XP, and I am interested in using the new fax feature. How can I tell if my modem has fax capabilities?

Look on the Windows XP HCL list.

This would appear to be a Broadcom "Soft" modem. Such modems depend on
software tom perform some modem functions instead of implementing the
function in a hardware ic/chip. There are appropriate drivers here:

The modem has fax and voice capabilities.
Russ suggests checking the XP Hardware Compatibility List. Well worth doing.
