Hello,
I have purchase a ASUS P4S8X-X motherboard and I have 2
problems with it.
The first is that the sound card doesn't work. It's a
SoundMax Integrated Device. In the property panel, I can
read something like : The device is active but it hasn't
start. When I double clik on the SoundMax systray icon, I
have a message like : the device is taken by another
application. In another screen, I have a message like :
There is no mixer device available.
I just have to install Windows XP Pro, and there is no
more application on the system.
==> How must I do to make work my sound card ?
The second is with the CPU clock. In fact, I have a 2,4
Ghz P4 processor, and in the BIOS, I have 3 choice : 1800,
2400 and manual. When I try with 2400, at the next boot, I
have a message that says the system clock isn't good. When
I try whith 1800, it works !
==> How must I configure my BIOS to use my CPU at 2,4 Ghz ?
Thanks for your help

Hello
Well few things you can do, since you just bought it
1. Return and get your money back
2. Return it and get a replacement
3. Go to www.asus.com and look for your soundcard driver
4. Change bus speed on mother board from 100mhz to 133mhz

Be sure to run the MB utility CD and DO NOT install the Intel App
Accelerator program. It seems that app is causing some problems with Asus
boards. Be sure you've enabaled the integrated sound device in the bios.
Clock speed in the bios should be set to "Auto" or half the actual speed of
the CPU as the hyper threading tech is posting the MB as having two cpu's, a
1200 and 1200. If you check your post screen and the control panal the
system reports two cpu's. You are actually over clocking the cpu at 1800.
Hope this helps.
