I just moved from an AOL diol-up to dsl. One glitch is
that if I leave the machine up for more than 9 hours it
locks up. Now for definitions;
System is Pentium 4 (1.5Ghz), 256K RAM, 30 Gig drive, XP
Home edition, Verizon DSL connected to Ethernet connection.
Locks ups means - Move mouse and ten minutes later arrow
may move. Control/alt/del non-responsive. DO I have memory
release problem?

Try testing your system memory with:
Windows Memory Diagnostic
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

Is your system have standby or hibernation enabled?
If you do, disable it in the control panel, and wait 9 hours.

If you do have a memory release problem, you usually get a pop-up message
about "Windows -Virtual Memory Minimum Too Low", and the whole system should
not lock up.

Thanks
