Nick,I am having the exact same problem with a force
feedback 2. I have contacted Microsoft support engineer
and the only way to make it work is to format the hard
drive, reinstall the original windows XP cd and install
your joystick before putting the updates on from the
windows update website. The reason is that an update
alters the orig.usb XP driver for sidewinders. The new
driver puts a double entry in your device manager. Do not
delete the ghost entry or you will have to start all over
again. Alturnatively, buy a different make of joystick.
