software installation after upgrade

I recently purchased xp pro to install on my comp. that
was running me. I had nortons internet sec. running on my
old operating system. When I did the xp install, I had it
do a new install that erased everything on my computer.
Afterwards, I established my dsl connection and then tried
to install my nortens internet security 2004. Everytime I
tried this, it stops installing in the middle and I can't
get it to load. It was designed to run on xp pro. What
is wrong with my comp. or am I doing something wrong?

It doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong. Sounds like a problem
with the installer for Norton's. If you're not getting any onscreen error
messages, check in Event Viewer to see if there's any mention of the failed
install there. Double click the item(s) to read more details. Use that
information to look up the problem on the tech support pages of the
Symantec website.
