Windows Messenger
If you don't like this program then you are f****ed. I have tried so hard to
get Windows Messenger not to log me in when I go online, there is no entry
in the add/remove programs file, I have tried removing the directory
(Windows wont let me), Norton remove wizard (or something like that) cant
touch it. Help me remove this unwanted nuisance.
Its like Microsoft rapes my computer every time I go online, forcing the
execution of an unwanted, undeletable program that uses my precious modem
stream for its own aims.
Big big thanks in advance

In addition to the good Messenger removal advice already
offered, since Robbie mentioned Norton software, be aware
that posts in Microsoft.public.windowsxp.messenger refer to
Messenger hooks in the newest a/v software that may also
warrant consideration.
I offer this for the sake of others. In your case, Robbie,
it is probable that you have already been snatched and
whisked away in a black helicopter.

the easy way to fix it is to change the name of the folder and it will not
bother you again.

Thanks everyone for your help. Jennifer, Windows would not let me rename the
messenger directory telling me that it was always in use, I suppose I could
have deleted/renamed it via doss. I have removed the offending program
thanks to the suggestion from Gord. All I need now is victim support and
counselling for the next couple of years and it will be like Windows
messenger never even existed.....Freedom
