Am new to all this, and if U haven't got the fix for ur problem
I do, after hours on the phone , put up ur firewall, then close
down(cold reboot) then go to microsoft.com & download
Q823980 for ur version of XP, ours was home XP, it fixed us
& the firewall kept us connected so I could download the fix.
Hope it helps ya, blew my day when it started...all better
