Wireless AND Wired - Detect and Change Automatically?

Can Windows XP detect changes in network accessability automatically?

I want a user to have the ability to use wireless, but if it fails due to
drop outs, they could plug in to the network and continue work without
logging out and back in?
Is this possible?

Works fine on my laptop, although there might be hardware and/or network
specific issues. The only thing to do is try it and see.
