Installing PCI Firewire card kills existing NIC

I recently installed a Belkin 3-port firewire card into
my XP proff. PC in order to download video from my cam.
Upon install my existing network connection dies and I
cannot reconnect until I remove the card and restore to
previous normal state.

There should be a setting in BIOS to clear NVRAM. Change to yes. This will
allow your MB to reallocate resources.
