Remote Proceedure Call

I have recently contracted a virus on my PC.(windows XP).
After logging on to the net, my PC will shut down with the
message "Remote Proceedure Call" and, initiated by NT
AUTHORITY/SYSTEM. I have downloaded the neccesary program
from micrsoft to help remedy the situation (the Patch),
however, after numerous attempts and partial success my PC
has reverted back to the above fault.At this moment in
time i cannot access my PC for any length of time to find
a solution. Are there any solutions for me to attempt.
